Friday 19th March - Spring Collection for Eastern Europe
and Scotland on behalf of Blythswood Care
4pm – 6pm at Aberfeldy Church Centre
This has been a really cold start to the year for us and it’s been a long time since I’ve been wearing 6 layers like last week – but hey, I did get cosy! The weather has been such a topic of conversation but at least we knew it would be short-lived and soon we would be dodging the falling icicles! So if you can, spare a thought for those in Eastern Europe who have to live at constantly freezing temperatures for months with inadequate food, clothing, bedding and fuel. This carries on and we find it hard to imagine what it must be like but maybe have a wee bit more of an inkling this year!
If you could put an extra item of food to be donated in your basket over the next few weeks that would be really appreciated, along with having a good rummage in the wardrobe for clothes.
The items currently requested for the Spring Collection are: Any clothing, especially: Warm Jackets, Warm Trousers, Fleeces and Jumpers for all ages, Hats, Gloves, Scarves, Bric-A-Brac, Washable and Disposable Nappies.
Strong Winter Footwear, Bedding, Sleeping Bags, Blankets, Tinned Food: Meat, Fish, Beans, Fruit, Vegetables and Macaroni Cheese. Coffee, Tea, Biscuits, Cooking Oil, Sugar, Dried Pasta, Rice, UHT Milk, Breakfast Cereal, Tinned Baby Food: - especially Fruit or Veg Varieties, Hard-Boiled or Jelly Sweets - Toothbrushes /Tooth Paste!
(All food needs sell by dates after October 2010 and no fresh produce Please)
We will gratefully accept tinned meat and fish, and flour and chocolate because: Like last year we are again going to give at least half of the food donations to The Highland Food Bank run by Blythswood to help them bring relief to those in need here in Scotland; especially important with the “credit crunch” hitting some individuals and families so hard.
There will be a “Bring and Buy” sale (and cups of tea) during the 2 hours and any donations for the stall will be very gratefully received. (Please contact Mais)
Donations of money towards transport costs would be greatly appreciated and can be sent to ‘Blythswood Care’, Highland Deephaven Industrial Estate, Evanton, Ross-Shire, IV16 9XJ, or collected on the day.
Thank you again so much for your help. Any enquires please contact Ali Edwards on 01887 829343 or Mais Steven on 01887 820278
